U03 640×512 Thermal Camera Module for FPV Drones - Integration Overview

July 2026 - Written by the HeatSight Optics Team

HeatSight U03 Overview - The U03 is a different animal from everything else in our catalog: a bare 640×512 thermal camera module built for FPV drone integration. This isn't a hunting optic - it's a component for builders putting thermal eyes on airframes for search-and-rescue support, livestock and predator monitoring from the air, roof and solar inspection, and property overwatch.

What It Is

A compact 640×512 thermal imaging module priced at $400 (regularly $650) - territory where most 640 drone payloads cost four figures before you've mounted them.

[SPEC BLOCK NEEDED - the product page currently says only "See Photos." This post needs: module dimensions & weight, lens focal length/FOV, video output format (analog CVBS for classic FPV? MIPI/USB?), input voltage & power draw, NETD, frame rate, connector pinout, and mounting pattern. Fill from the U03 datasheet.]

Integration Notes

Straight talk on this one: we bench-test and flash every U03 before it ships, and the 640 core in this module is the same class of sensor our rifle scopes run. What we do not have yet is a library of customer flight footage, and that is the section a module like this deserves. If you have built a U03 into an airframe, send us the video and the parts list and we will feature the build here. First-hand results from your rigs beat anything we could write from the bench.

Who It's For

FPV builders and integrators who want true 640 thermal in the air without buying a $4,000+ gimbal payload. If your mission is handheld ground scanning instead, the TPM-A30 monocular is the better tool.

This review was written by the HeatSight Optics team based on our own design, bench, and field testing of production units. We build these scopes, so consider the source - and consider that we also publish the cons, because we'd rather you buy the right scope than return the wrong one.
