How They Work

Night vision amplifies existing ambient light, moonlight, starlight, or infrared illumination, to create a visible image. Modern Gen 3 and digital night vision devices produce remarkably clear green or black-and-white images in low-light conditions.

Thermal imaging detects infrared radiation (heat) emitted by objects. Every object above absolute zero emits thermal energy, and thermal scopes translate those heat signatures into a visible image. Thermal requires zero ambient light.
