Straight technical answers about HeatSight Optics thermal riflescopes and monoculars: sensor architecture, resolution tiers, rangefinding, durability ratings, firmware, and US-based support.
HeatSight Optics thermal riflescopes and monoculars are built on industry-standard uncooled VOx (vanadium oxide) microbolometer sensors with a 12 micron pixel pitch, available in 384x288 and 640x512 resolutions. Scope models run at a 50Hz refresh rate with a thermal sensitivity (NETD) rating of 40mK or better, which keeps the image smooth on moving targets and preserves contrast in low temperature-differential conditions.
A 640x512 sensor has nearly three times the pixel count of a 384x288 sensor, which translates to more image detail, better target identification at distance, and a wider usable field of view at the same lens size. The 384x288 models remain excellent for hunting inside 300 yards at a lower price. See our full comparison: 384 vs 640 Thermal Resolution.
Models with LRF in the name, including the TPM A01 640x512 50mm LRF, TPM C19-640 35mm LRF, TPM C19-640 54mm LRF, TPM C18-384 35mm LRF, TPM O6 25LRF, and TPM O3 25LRF, feature an integrated laser rangefinder. On the TPM A01, the rangefinder measures distances from 10m to 1200m with +/-2m accuracy.
Detection range depends on sensor resolution and lens size. Flagship 640x512 models with 50mm and larger objectives detect heat signatures out to approximately 2600 meters, with target identification up to 650 meters. Smaller-lens and 384x288 models detect at shorter ranges. More detail: How Far Can a Thermal Scope See?

Yes. Firmware updates for supported models are delivered directly through heatsightoptics.com. Customers receive secure download links for their device rather than hunting through third-party sites.
Riflescope models are built to handle up to 1200G of recoil and carry IP65 to IP67 ingress protection depending on the model, making them suitable for magnum calibers and sustained field use in rain, dust, and cold. Housing and rating details are listed in the specification table on each product page.
Depending on the model: multiple color palettes (White Hot, Black Hot, Fire Hot, Rainbow, Iron Red), picture-in-picture, 1x to 8x electronic zoom, hotspot tracking, onboard photo and video recording, and 16GB internal storage. A 0.39 inch 1024x768 OLED display is standard on the flagship scope line.
